Stay in Bario Santa Cruz Seville
Bario Santa Cruz in Seville was the medieval Jewish quarter, a maze of picturesque and narrow streets around the Cathedral and Real Alcazar. It’s one of the best areas to stay in Seville for sightseeing, but also the most expensive.
Santa Cruz is undeniably pretty and convenient, but also full of bars, restaurants and tourists. So check the location of anywhere you book to ensure you can escape the noise and bustle of the streets.

Stay in Centro Seville
The Centro district of Seville runs north of Seville Cathedral up to the area around Las Setas, when you cross over into Macarena. This area encompasses the Old Town or Casco Antigua that you may see marked on maps, with a web of narrow and often pedestrianised streets, in one of the oldest parts of the city. Here you’ll find some of the best hotels in Seville with a wide choice of accommodation, from budget to luxury.
The northern part of the quarter is one of the best places to stay in Seville for shopping, with high street brands and the department store El Corte Ingles. Close to Las Setas around Plaza Alfalfa the Alfalfa neighbourhood has reinvented itself as a trendy enclave for independent boutiques and bars known as Soho Benita.

Stay in El Arenal Seville
El Arenal is the neighbourhood closest to the Guadalquivir River. In the days when Seville was a thriving port, this area grew wealthy on the goods that arrived by ship from the New World. These days it’s a convenient place to stay, with easy access to the pleasant riverside promenade.
The northern part of El Arenal near the Plaza de Armas bus station is a 30 minute walk from Seville cathedral, but at the southern end El Arenal borders Santa Cruz, with easy access to all the main sights. Hotel prices in El Arenal are a bit lower than Santa Cruz, so look here if you want better value accommodation without compromising too much on location.

Stay in Triana Seville
Despite being just across the river from Santa Cruz, Triana has a personality of its own. It’s the former working class area of Seville that was known for its gypsy culture and ceramic factories. Triana is a favourite area to stay for those who want a local vibe without being over-run by tourists.
The parts closest to the river, especially near Puente de Isabel II and Puente de San Telmo are just a short walk across the bridge to reach the main sights of Seville. Accommodation prices are quite a bit cheaper than Santa Cruz or Centro. While there is less choice of hotel accommodation, Triana is a good place to rent an apartment.

Stay in Macarena Seville
Macarena is located to the north of the Centro district and has a boho vibe, with vintage shops and vinyl record stores. Most tourists don’t make it to Macarena, so it offers a much more local atmosphere, with cheaper accommodation.
Macarena is probably the best neighbourhood to stay in Seville for buzzing nightlife, with numerous bars and restaurants around Alameda de Hercules and Calle Ferria.
This would be a good place to stay if you are on a tight budget or want an apartment for a longer stay in Seville. When looking for accommodation, Alameda (around Alameda de Hercules) and Feria (around Calle de Feria) are part of this wider neighbourhood.

Other Seville neighbourhoods to consider
Los Remedios – this area just south of Triana is where the April Fair is held. Outside that period it’s a calm residential area with modern apartments and little in the way of tourist attractions or accommodation. Los Remedios would be a quiet neighbourhood to base yourself for a longer apartment stay in Seville.
Nervión / Santa Justa – this is the modern commercial and business district of Seville, close to Seville’s main Santa Justa station and the football stadium. There are some hotels here aimed at business travellers, although you are some distance from the main tourist sights.
Tips for booking accommodation in Seville
- Book early to get the best price and choice – there are lots of options but the most popular get booked up.
- Be aware of major events that will increase the cost of accommodation, such as Santa Semana (Holy Week) and April Fair
- At busy periods a minimum stay may be required.
- Prices for weekdays are a lot cheaper than weekends – sometimes half the price
- Check the monthly temperatures – you’ll need heating in winter and air conditioning in summer
- Check for outdoor space at the hotel – few have gardens but many will have an interior patio or roof terrace, even a rooftop pool.
- When considering where to stay in Seville, check the walking time to Seville cathedral, which is the heart of Seville’s sightseeing area. However, none of the accommodation I’ve recommended is more than a 30 minutes walk from the cathedral.
Tips for family accommodation in Seville
- Seville can be extremely hot in summer so think carefully about when you visit. Spring and autumn are ideal, but remember the city is very crowded before Easter due to the Santa Semana (Holy Week) parades and during the April Fair.
- For convenience, I would personally look for family accommodation in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood closest to the Real Alcazar. This will give you access to several shady public parks that have children’s playgrounds, such as the Jardines de Murillo, Jardines del Prado de San Sebastian and Parque de Maria Luisa.
- If travelling with younger children check whether taxis can pull up outside your chosen accommodation. Within the old city the streets are narrow and often pedestrianised although taxis can access most areas.
- Families with older children might consider some of the hostels recommended below, which have rooms suitable for families, as a good value alternative to renting an apartment.

Best apartments in Seville Spain
Apartments are a good option if you want private living space, need the flexibility to self cater or are sharing with friends. They are not always a cheaper option than hotels when travelling as a couple, but provide good value if you are sharing a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment with friends or family.
When travelling as a couple I prefer apartments for longer stays and favour hotels for shorter city breaks. This is because apartments can be more restrictive on arrival times, whereas with a hotel you can just drop your suitcase and go. Eating out is cheap in Seville and on a short trip we prefer to enjoy the local restaurants rather than self cater.

Where we stayed in Seville
We stayed at Hotel Boutique La Parada del Marques which is a great little boutique hotel in the El Arenal area, an easy walk to everything we wanted to see. I can highly recommend the hotel, which is stylish and contemporary, with a sunny roof terrace, pleasant breakfast area where you can sit and get a free coffee during the day, and exceptionally friendly staff.
This is an ideal smaller hotel for couples or solo travellers. It’s located on quite a busy road but if you request a room at the back overlooking the courtyards and rooftops there’s hardly any noise.

More accommodation in Seville
Hopefully you will have found something that suits you among my recommendations. If not feel free to use the links below to browse for even more accommodation in Seville.
Best time to visit Seville
Located in the south of Spain, Seville benefits from year round sunshine. Winters are mild and you can still find days with clear blue skies and sunshine during the day.
Spring and Autumn are the best times to visit with warm but comfortable weather. However, be aware that the city can be very busy, with higher accommodation prices during the Santa Semana (Holy Week) celebration and the April Fair that takes place 2 weeks after Easter.
Also it’s worth knowing that June and September can still be quite hot. Most travellers will want to avoid the hottest months of July and August when the temperatures reach mid 30s celcius (and higher) and the locals flee to the coast.
